Things have been good and sweet lately. Summer weather seems to be on hold, as it has been mostly rainy and cloudy since April, but we have grabbed ahold of any sunshine we can with both hands!!
My garden is in full swing and my first zinnia bloomed. She is mini, but the amount of joy she has brought me, settled in next to my great grandma’s ridiculous salt and pepper shakers is so sweet.
This season of parenting is feeling different. They’re either an adult, or almost an adult, and our summers don’t look quite the way they used to look. Nathan is living on his own, and Aubrey is working and making all the plans for college that she can. It is an every day discussion on what that will look like in some form or another. This is all very sweet, but also feels surreal. It’s not often we are all together for very long anymore, so I called for an afternoon of mingolf and ice cream last week.
Wade and I got out for a date night at Strongman’s in Trego, and it was SO dang good!! Consider this a 5-star review and go. The food was amazing, the staff was great, and we got to sit outside on the patio and the weather was perfect.
Also since I’m off the Instagream again, I have a bit of time on my hands!! Haha!! I finished my bag that I was crocheting. I am IN LOVE with it!! it makes me so dang happy!! So, now I am back to crocheting granny squares for my girly’s blanket that I started last year, but got sidetracked from. And also, another little secret project on the side from that!! Haha!!
And reading!! I am always reading a simple summer read on my kindle. My current favorite author is Courtney Walsh. She just writes the happiest, cutest books. I also always have a book going that will push me towards God, some kind of a discipleship book. I just finished this book by Lisa Whittle. It is a really good book that definitely pushed on me in some ways. A chapter of one title is “I want God more than comfort”. Welp, somedays….I definitely need that reminder.
So, life has been good. And life has been crazy. Wade is still healing from his stroke, which we were told would be a slow process, but goodness, he is growing impatient with his brain. We did finally get to meet with the surgeon for his surgery to close the hole in his heart yesterday. That now needs to be approved by our insurance and we will get to go ahead and schedule that.
In the meantime, summer is still my favorite. When it’s not raining, you can find me on my deck reading or crocheting, wandering around my yard picking at my flowers and marveling at my garden. My pool is sitting there, waiting for me to get in. I have only braved it a couple times, and those were much too short of times, in my opinion. I’m hoping for many more, long floats in that pool this summer.
